Q: New to Ibook

Hi Guys

I am brand new to the forum and I was wondering if you experienced ladies and gentlemen might be able to help me.

I have a few questions you might be able to help me with

1. Can I make a copy of my Ibook before publishing so that I can make changes to it further down the line?

2. Some of my section titles are missing from the table of contents and if I am being honest I may have deleted them unwittingly when I first started out, how do I reintroduce them?

Any help would be really appreciated

Ian

What app are you using?  if iBooks Author, just make sure you save the .iba file that corresponds to your book.  It cannot open the .ibooks file which is used for selling/reading.

    Hi Tom

Thanks for getting back to me I really do appreciate it. Yes I am using iBook author, I am creating a school text book (for the first time) and I would hope that the feedback I get from the students will help me develop the book further. So you say there is an option to save it as an ida.file? Would this allow me then to work on the book separately even after it has been published?

    thanks again for responding

When you Save a project in iBooks Author, you get an .iba file.  That file can only be opened by iBooks Author and cannot be used by the iBooks reader app.  Just make sure you do not delete it, quite a few people think they do not need it again after publishing and then find they cannot update their book.

Ahhhh I get you now, I am making this on my mac book and I see the .iba file, so when I publish the book the iba file will remain on my macbook but a published version will be available on iBooks?

I hope I have that right? thanks again and I don't suppose you know anything about my query on the sections within the book?

    thanks for your help tom

Yes, when you publish, a copy of your book is created in a different format, .ibooks or .epub, depending on which template you used.
