require update leads to restore that fails

tried to sync and hung on photos (step 6 of 7) after 2 numerous attempts totaling over 5 hours so far

received numerous errors after doing a required update 9.3.2

then it make it worse, received another error (2006)

then it said it needed update 12.4.2 for itunes, let it do that

then it said it needed to check the iPhone software server to identify the device and something about software preferences to turn on automatically

then it said there was a problem with iphone that requires update or restore

then it said it had to be restored to 9.3.3

then it said it couldnt be updated error (21)

then it said it couldnt be activated error (0xE80000013)

now it wont even take a password to restore

tried rebooting phone and computer

still no success trying to restore again after some finagling

any ideas?
