Q: El Cap. Server running hot
I run a Server on 10.11.6. Server 5.1.5 for our team of collaborators serving OD, Filesharing, Profile Manager and Filemaker server on a Mini Server 2010.
Two days ago the machine started to heat up, looking at the Activity Monitor I saw a lots of launchd, kernel_task, mds_stores processes. After some Analysis I decided to shut down Spotlight with " sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist "which I do not use on the server anyway and bingo the process craziness resides and the machine runs on 90% Idle again..which it should, seeing our low use.
However I would really like to know what happened to this machine.
Also.. loading back mds.plist brings back the launchd process taking always 40% or more of CPU.
I also see this message?
7/28/16 7:51:12.003 AM com.apple.CDScheduler[80]: *** LOG MESSAGE QUOTA EXCEEDED - SOME MESSAGES FROM THIS PROCESS HAVE BEEN DISCARDED ***
and lots of
7/27/16 11:07:34.000 PM kernel[0]: Sandbox: mdworker(678) deny(1) file-read-data /Applications/Chess.app/Contents/MacOS/Chess
Any hints what is going on with this machine?
