I can no longer set up my me.com mail account on OS X and cannot find a help FAQ

The setup for me.com essentially is the same as for icloud.com: they are interchangeable. Manual instructions can be found here: iCloud: Mail server settings for email clients - Apple Support
Delete the account, then add it back. After filling in the 1st screen, hold down the option/alt key while clicking Continue. Fill in the necessary information, then click continue until all screens are filled in.
It got more complicated than this. At the advice of a FAQ I deleted it but when I tried to set it back up via iCloud feature, it didn't work until I switched from my first AppleID with a yahoo account, from 7 years ago, to my AppleID me.com account which I use almost entirely now. I have it going again, but quite more complicated than just reinstalling on the same ID. Thanks..
