When I first opened the iPod Touch Users' Guide, I used the table of contents (TOC) for locating and accessing sections in the manual. But, after looking through the manual for a while, I tried to return the TOC, but it was no longer there! I have tried various things to see if the TOC is being masked, or if somehow it was removed. Can anybody shed some light on this mysterious event?

Is that the iBooks version you're talking about? There is an online version here: https://help.apple.com/ipod-touch/9/ Aha, I see the table of contents on the left disappears if you zoom in or make the window narrow, and reappears if you zoom out or make it wider.

Hi Turingtest2, Thanks for your quick reply. It does help a lot. The version I am having trouble is the download from iBooks named "iPod touch User Guide for iOS 9.3" etc. Your version looks good, but frankly, I am puzzled and frustrated by the mystery of the disappearing TOC in that one. If I can't get to the bottom of this through conventional means, I might try an exorcist.

Hi again, This is indeed the solution! Thanks again for your assistance. I didn't see the restoration of the table of contents when I tapped the icon in question. However, this time I did get the TOC, because I tapped it from the first page of the manual. I am not familiar with this protocol, but since it works, it's golden with me. I guess I won't have to call Father Damian Karras after all!
