Finding where items are stored

I have a 1TB Hard Drive and when looking at the "About this Mac", under Storage, It shows "Movies" 97.5 GB used. It also shows "Backups" 367.12GB used.

I would like to see where these are actually located on my HD so I can delete them. I know I have no movies on the HD as they are stored on iTunes. And having Backups equalling 1/3 of my HD is ridiculous!

Currently using OSX 10.8.5 as I'm using Parallels to run Windows XP for business embroidery software.

Please Help.

Those local snapshots are essentially harmless: they only seem to take storage space in that notoriously unreliable overview. They will automatically be cleared if and when storage space is needed for something else: About Time Machine local snapshots - Apple Support

You can check the real amount of free space in any Finder window.

Try using these programs to locate where things are on your hard drive. If you go Finder/View/Show Path Bar, it will show you where it is located.
