Q: Macbook Pro on OSX Yosemite 10.10.5 won't accept my CORRECT iCloud password
I changed email address on my AppleID recently due to no access to old work email and have been through all the resetting email and password on various devices (iPhone 6, iPad, iPad mini) and found useful discussions here to help with that process - which is somewhat frustrating.
Since then, anytime I log in to my Macbook Pro from a restart it works with my usual password (lock password was same as old AppleID password but when I changed email address, I had to use a new (stronger) password. The lock password on Macbook remained the old lock password and works on restarts. However, when it locks after inactivity or if the screen is closed down, when I try to log back in again, it doesn't work. It doesn't recognise the CORRECT password. I then have to login as guest (which gives me Safari access only and a very limited menu in top left apple. I select "restart" there, the system reboots and I can then select my user (the only user which is also admin) and usual lock password and this time it works.
This is so frustrating for the entire family using the Macbook.
On original set up, I didn't link my lock password to iCloud. My new iCloud/Apple ID password never works to unlock - i tried just in case. However, I am trying to go through the steps of turning off iCloud password just in case there is some glitch but when i try to go into either change password in Users and Groups or sign out of iCloud, it simply doesn't accept the correct iCloud/appleid password. I have even logged into iCloud at the same time in browser to confirm i am using correct iCloud password. The system in Macbook is simply not accepting that my correct password for iCloud is the correct one - it just says in red "The password is incorrect".
The Macbook frequently asks me for password to iCloud (pop up box) but lists the OLD email address from my AppleID/iCloud not the new email. On all other devices if there is a pop up, it correctly lists the new email for appleID iCloud.
Please help. (1) why is my lock password on macbook not working on any lock other than a complete restart and (2) why does Macbook say my correct iCloud password is not correct?

You may have a mismatch in the Login Keychain. See if the instructions in this support article will help:
