Can my iPhone be located by the imei?

i just recently reset my iphone 6splus and it was open. Now I cannot find it, can it be located by the imei?

If you have lost your iPhone and used Find My iPhone to remotely wipe your device, you will lose the ability to track your device. There should have been a warning prompt that said as much before you proceeded with the remote wipe. That being said, you should report the loss or theft to your carrier so that they may suspend/lock the iPhone, and prevent the thief from getting service for the device.
