Q: Transferring tiff files in iOS Photos (iPad) to MacBook Pro

I have a bunch of tiff files in Photos on an iPad (IOS 9.3.2) that I need to export to my MacBook.  I've tried hooking the iPad to the computer and  using Photos (mac), Aperture, and Image Capture.  All of them show only two images that are jpg copies that were created at some point of two of the tiff images.

a)  is there a way for me to export the TIFF images?

b) if not, is there a way for me to select large groups of the TIFF images and make jpg copies in batches?

iPad, iOS 9.3.2

    Hi Pargus,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities to get help. Since you are unable to see the images on the device from your computer when connected, you should try using iCloud to sync the images to your Mac instead. You can use this link for assistance.

If you can‘t import photos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer

Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

These links should assist with getting those pictures onto your Mac.

    Have a great day.

    Thanks Chris,

I'd thought about iCloud, but I admit I'm not a fan of cloud-based networking.  That said, it would be fine as a temporary link, but the time to upload a LOT of Tiff images, then download them to a different computer would seem like a choice of last resort.

I guess I could set up a hardwired internet link to speed things up, but it seems to me that there is a basic TIFF image problem at work here that must be causing more then just me to have problems.  I was hoping someone had a more direct work around.  I'll use your suggestion if nothing else surfaces, and appreciate the input.

To be more accurate, I'm not a fan of cloud-based file storage.  Cloud-based networking is basically what the internet is!

Also, when I started this, I was trying to download the pictures to a computer using an older operating system and an even older version of iPhoto.  I didn't want to upgrade those (it is my elderly mother's computer and she would just get confused by the changes), and I don't think iCloud would work with them.  However, if I need to I can download to my computer, which has the current software, and then move it to hers.  More steps, but if ya gotta, ya gotta.

Chris, I've set up the iCloud link you suggested.  However, the two importing links you sent me address photos or videos taken on the iPad, not photos stored in the Photos app.  NEW photos that go into the Photos app show up, but I can't see any of the hundreds that are already there, including the jpg's that are there.

So, I don't seem to be getting anywhere.  Other thoughts?  I notice this question isn't getting a lot of attention, indicating--I guess--that most people don't use TIFF files.
