I'm assuming you mean the battery icon is turn green when you say it's charging? What troubleshooting have you done?

It can never hurt to give them a call. I would also recommend checking your warranty (https://checkcoverage.apple.com/) with Apple to see if calling them would cost you anything

- Try another cable. The cable for 5G or later iPod (lightning connector) seems to be more prone to failure than the older cable.

- Try another charging source
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
