iPhone 6 restore from iCloud backup never repopulates the same number of photos

My daughter one day accidentally erased my iPhone 6 by putting in the passcode wrong 5 times in a row. When I restored from the iCloud backup from earlier in the day, it told me it couldn't restore everything from it. Confused I checked my phone and found one of the apps missing from one of my folders. In the meantime, I had seen how many photos I had at the time. I restored again to see if I could get all of the apps back correctly this time. The same app did not recover, along with another one this time. However, the big thing was the picture count was not the same either as the previous restore's count. Also, the Video folder shows a count of 131, but when I select Cameta Roll it tells me I have 133. How can I refresh just the Photo app's auto sort to see if they all come back, and more importantly, why does an iCloud restore always seem to fail to download everything it contains from a previous backup?

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I know having an issue restoring your iCloud backup is not what you expect. The following article will be helpful in explaining your issues, and especially the section at the bottom entitled, “If a message says that your restore is incomplete or some items won't restore:”

Also, for the apps you're missing, good news is you can redownload the songs, albums, movies, TV shows, apps, books, or audiobooks that you buy from the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store. This article will help walk you through that process:

Hello jdo_apple,

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, the link did not answer my questions. When I do a restore I always do those steps. Also, it doesn't answer the picture count discrepancy issue I noted above, or how to refresh the Photo app's automatic picture sort. Is there more technical information that goes deeper than the general stuff in the link?
