US Cellular iPhone 6 work on other carriers?

Hello,

I am getting a used iPhone 6 that was bought from US Cellular. My question is, can I unlock it and use it on any other carriers? What about LTE?

Thanks for any help,

iPhone 6, iOS 9.3.3

This may mean:

  • You are purchasing a used iPhone directly from US Cellular.
  • You are purchasing a used iPhone from someone who had used it with US Cellular.
  • You are purchasing a used iPhone from someone who originally purchased it from US Cellular when new.

In any event, the iPhone is presumably locked to US Cellular. If that is true, only US Cellular could unlock it, if anyone can.

Further, if you have not yet purchased the iPhone, check to see if it is Activation Locked at:

Run the other way if it is locked.

sberman,

I did more research and found out that iPhones bought from CDMA carriers (i.e. Verizon, Sprint, and US Cellular) have all the bands to run all the carriers (CDMA & GSM). iPhones bought from GSM carriers, (i.e. T-Mobile, AT&T) only work on GSM carriers, not CDMA ones as well. In addition, the iPhone 6 & 6plus do not have band 12 necessary for LTE on T-Mobile now.
