iTunes has lost my podcast progress

The other night, I listened to a couple episodes of a few different podcasts. That progress was not recorded. iTunes claims I did not listen to those episodes. I did not sync in the interim, or download or delete any episodes. I cannot tell if the progress was never recorded or the record was destroyed. There was an episode I finished (partially completed before), an episode I listened to entirely, and another I started; they are all in their original states, no indication I listened.
