PowerPC applications are no longer supported.

I'm a teacher and all of my tests are already made on the program Exam View 5.2 by Prentice Hall. My school purchased it in 2014. When I try to run it in my 2016 macbook pro I get this message, "You can’t open the application “ExamView Player Installer” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." I really don't want to have to redo all my tests.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! My students would thank you too!

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Apple stopped supporting those types of applications when they transitioned to Lion which was 6 years ago.

You will have to contact Prentice Hall to find a version that runs on your current OS X.

One website lists a different version of a product called Examview that is compatible with "Mac OS versions 10.9, 10.10 and 10.11" but I don't know if that is the product you are referring to.

I'm confused. You said the school purchased the PowerPC version in 2014, but Turning Software stopped selling that release long before then, so where did they buy this software in 2014?

As already mentioned, they have a version that is compatible with OS X 10.9/10.10/10.11. According to their web site, Turning Software stopped selling the PowerPC version back in 2011, when their purely intel-Mac compatible release came out. It looks like for awhile back after OS X Lion came out, they had some sort of upgrade system going too?

Regardless, you're using a long deprecated release of exam view and will need to upgrade. If there are issues with the older files in the newest version, I would contact TurningTech support about getting them converted.

One option is to install the last version of OS X which could run PPC software as a Virtual Machine in VMware Fusion, Parallels or VirtualBox. That version of OS X is Snow Leopard Server which you can order directly from Apple (800-692-7753), and be sure to get Mac OS X Server v10.6 Snow Leopard - Unlimited Client License, Part # MC588Z/A. That should cost $20. You can install your software in the SLS Virtual Machine and run it that way.

Thanks everyone for these replies! You've all been very helpful. I contacted Turning Points as well about the problem and I'm waiting to hear back. You're right and turning points did take over Exam View. I'm contacting my school for their license and account information so maybe I can get a free upgrade. If that doesn't work, I can try the VMware Fusion, you suggested or just try to purchase the newest version.

Thanks agin!
