    Hi,

If they are not displayed "in-line" are they still on your Mac ?

You should be able to click a spyglass icon to show where they are on the Drive.

It is unclear as to whether this is a feature change (it have been working of ichat and the AIM and Jabber account since 2004) or some corruption to the iMessages add-on to make it Messages.

    Hi,

So they are not changing to Spyglass icons.

This probably means they are not being stored.

    Open a Finder window.

Use the Go Menu and hold down the ALT key whilst doing so.

Select the Library that appears and then navigate to the Messages folder.

In here should be the Attachments folder.

In there should be oddly numbered folders that can be opened further.

I use Cover Flow view when I am doing this.

Also from the Finder's View Menu > Show View Options I have the Modified column displayed.

Does there appear to be a date when things stopped being Written to this Folder ?

The Date on the Attachments folder will probably not reflect the dates on the folders inside.

I also show the Path Bar (Also in the Finder > View Menu)

Right click the Attachments folder and select Get Info.

In the Info panel that shows up scroll to the bottom.

    Unlock the padlock.

Your Shortname should appear in the list.

It should have Read and Write Permissions.

Open the drop down that looks like a cogwheel icon beneath the List

This should be greyed out text if you Own the file.

The other issue is that this is only the final holding place.

The actual Write route is ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iChat/Data/Library/Messages and then an Alias should link it to the Attachments folder.
