Why can't I change the reminder dates in Calendar

I was trying to extend a trip to add one more day to a reminder I had set up on my Calendar, but couldn't get it to stay.

After changing the date it would show the corrected trip dates for about 2 seconds then revert to the original trip dates.

Any ideas as to why it is not working right.
