Trackpad driver for Macbook A1181 running Windows 10

Hi

I've got an old MacBook A1181 running Windows 10 through Boot Camp, and I'm experiencing some problems.

So first i installed Windows 10 through Boot Camp on OS X Snow Leopard. The installation went good. Then i downloaded Boot Camp 5.1.5640 from the Apple website. It installed without any errors. I rebooted and now the trackpad doesn't work. The trackpad worked before installing Boot Camp, but without Gestures.

Then i followed some steps i found on google on how to make it work again. Basically i installed the Apple Keyboard as a USB input. Now the trackpad works again, but without Gestures. I really don't care that much about zooming and scrolling, but's really annoing not being able to right-click.

The webcam drivers didn't work either, but i found a driver online that works perfectly.

I now that this Macbook is old, but i hope anyone have a solution.

Maybe i should also mention that i also tried running Ubuntu 15 on it. With Ubuntu i was both able to scroll and right-click without even installing anything other than the OS itself.

I also tried using some software called Tracpad++, but it doesn't have support for this old a Macbook.

Hope somebody knows what to do or just something i can try.

This is expected, since there are no certified drivers for 7/8 year old hardware on W10. 😉

Remove Trackpad++, if you still have it. What is the currently installed driver that supports your trackpad without the right-click? Do you have a trackpad tab in Control Panel -> Boot Camp?

Thank you for your reply.

I have removed Trackpad++. I don't have any Trackpad tab in the Boot Camp Control Panel.

Right now the driver that supports the trackpad without the right-click is just the Windows USB-Input Device.

Can you use Install Windows 7 and earlier on your Mac using Boot Camp - Apple Support to get the BC Drivers downloaded to a USB Flash drive, and just install the trackpad driver manually, but use Compatibility mode because it is a W7 driver and install it with Administrative privileges and test?

I can try, but do i have to uninstall Windows 10 to install Windows 7, or can i have both? And what does BC Drivers mean? Sorry if that's a stupid question.

BC = Boot Camp.

No, you do not need to uninstall W10. Try to install the W7 driver on current installed W10 with compatibility and privileges.

Do i even need to install Windows 7? Can't i just run the BC Drivers i have downloaded from the Apple website and run the Apple Trackpad driver in compatibility mode for Windows 7?

Also the Macbook that i have i the Early 2009, which has a 64-bit Architecture, but there are only 32-bit drivers for this Macbook running Windows 7.

Only the CPU is 64-bit, but some of the associated hardware is still 32-bits. Try and install it and test. The (normal but still unsupported) method to get to W10 on Macs which are not Apple-certified for W10, is to install to the highest possible W7/W8 version and then run an in-place upgrade, which preserves drivers and compatibility during the upgrade.

Thank you so much. I finally got it working. I downloaded this older Boot Camp https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1630?locale=da_DK. Then i installed every Trackpad and Keyboard driver i could find in the folders in Compatability mode for Windows 7. Then restarted and now both right-clicking and scrolling works just fine 🙂

Please back up OS X and Windows. Also, create a Windows System Restore point for future recovery.
