Can you hook Apple TV with a cable box at the same time

    Depends on your cable box.

     

    The Apple TV uses HDMI.

     

    If your Cable box has an HDMI passthrough you could connect it that way.

     

    Otherwise, why would you want it to go through the cable box?

    Thanks Phil, bought Apple TV for granddaughter and she has older tv with no hdmi only component plugs with Bose ;321 system. Trying to get all connected and I am stuck?

    Without knowing anything about the cable box it's hard to say.

     

    Also note that the Apple Tv requires HDCP support for protected content such as iTunes movies, and Netflix.

    Component (Red,Green,Blue) do not to my knowledge support HDCP though they are higher quality than composite cables (Yellow[video], Red and white [audio]) no HDCP either.

     

    You may not be able to connect the Apple Tv to that TV though.  What make and model of TV and cable box are they?
