Q: Stock weather app adds locations on its own

Every since iOS 9 my stock weather app on my phone will add a location on its own. When I delete it and add the ones I want, they will stay a day or so and then it will delete them and add bonnor springs ks on its own, no matter how many times I delete it, it will re add it and delete anything that I try and add.

I'm really getting sick of this happening. Any help would be great.

    Hi, PeteKC!

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Based on the information you provided in your post, I'm understanding that the Weather app isn't behaving as expected; it seems to revert back to a default setting every so often, erasing locations you've inputted and replacing it with Bonnor Springs, KS as the only location. I rely on the Weather app myself to prepare for my day, so I definitely want to help make sure it's working!

There are a few things that could be going on to cause this, so I'd recommend taking the following steps. After performing each step, test to see if the issue has been resolved. If not, move onto the following step.

    1. Quit the Weather app. Instructions on doing so can be found here: Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

    2. Restart your iPhone, if you haven't already. If you're not sure how to do that, check out the steps in this article: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

    3. Reset your iPhone's settings under Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. This won't remove any of your data from the iPhone, but it will revert customizable settings (such as your wallpaper and screen brightness, ringtones and alert sounds, and Date & Time settings) back to their factory defaults. It will also remove any saved Wi-Fi networks and passwords, or any previously used VPN or APN settings.

    4. Backup your iPhone, then restore it to factory settings. You can use iTunes or iCloud to create a current backup, if you do not already have one. Instructions on doing so can be found here: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Once a backup is created, use iTunes on a computer to restore the iPhone, following the instructions in this article: Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

After you've restored the iPhone, set it up as a new device (meaning without your backed up data, at least temporarily) and test your Weather app. You can sign into iCloud, FaceTime and iMessage, and the iTunes and App Stores while you test.

    5. If everything works as expected when set up as a new user, you can restore your backed up data using this article: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

After restoring your backup, test the Weather app again. If it starts to misbehave again, you'll need to go through the restore to factory settings one more time, and set up as a new device permanently (do not restore your backup). You can redownload content from iCloud and the iTunes and App Stores.

    Have a lovely day!
