Q: how do I download music (MP3 files) from Windows to my I-Pod 4?

I Have a large file of music in MP3 format on my Windows 7 computer I would like to backup and play on my I-Pod 4. I've tried trasfering and get a "Device not recieving or disconected" error message. Is there any way to accomplish this?
