Export huge amount of phto

Hi!

I'm using a late 2008 iMac, and using it for entertaiment, mostly for family pictures and videoes. Recently I have decided to reformat my picture for perfomance purposes and want to save my photos and videos on an external harddrive. The main issue is that I have to export over seven thousands of videos and pictures, and my iphoto seems to have trouble importing them. Even importing them into small batches (100 photos at a time) won't make any difference. The question is if there is some other way to import these pictures, without having the hassle of importing them one by one.

Thanks for the help in advance!

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution. We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:

  • what system are you running?
  • what version of iPhoto are you running? Or are you running the new Photos app?
  • did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
  • how did you export the photos and videos to the external HD?
  • what happens when you try to import larger nos. of photos? Do you get a warning message? What is it?
  • is it a new library that you're importing to?
  • where is the library located?
  • what fixes have you tried?
  • are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?

  • what type of Mac?
  • how much free space on your boot drive?
