Q: Text boxes in Aperture

I love using Aperture to make slide shows for my family and friends.  However - the older version let me put text on individual slides in any theme. I now have a new Macbook, and things are different.  Now, it only allows texts if I use the boring themes - that show basically one photo at a time! Is there any way to overcome this?  I hate classic and ken burns for slideshows!

The advanced themes do dot allow text on the sides, only Ken Burns and Classic.

If you want to show text in other themes, you have to create versions of your photos with the text written into the Photo. I use the borderFX plug-in to add text with borders.

I prefer Ken Burns  and classic for slideshows. It has several advantages:

    • It will not crop the heads and feet of portrait photos to squeeze them into a landscape frame.
    • All photos will be shown in full size.
    • I can add titles and can adjust the timing better.
    • The effects do not distract from my photos and my audience will not complain that the many animations  make it impossible to view the photos. My audience is old-fashioned and just want to see photos, large and detailed.
