I understand that you've managed to update your iPhone while it was disabled, but still now you are being asked for a passcode or password. I know it's important to be able to use your device, so I'm happy to provide some direction to help.
If this is a 4 to 6 digit passcode that you are being asked for, and you do not remember it, you can restore your iPhone with the steps provided here:
If you are being asked for your iCloud password, it is likely that you are seeing the screen for activation lock. You can find out more about Activation Lock here:
