There are Console logs and crash reports that itemize details in the system
which may be helpful in the course of actual troubleshooting. To log a KP
or kernel panic (if you get a restart message, etc indicating such occurred.)

Given the instructions above, you may be able to get a report from MacBook
and then enter it into a reply in your thread here in ASC. Also, if you have an
easily repeatable issue, and an Apple Store with Genius isn't too far off, you
may choose to see if an appointment with Genius may help reveal this matter.
Have you tried a system management controller - reset, as outlined here?

Because your model MacBook computer does not have a user-removable battery; note:
If the battery is non-removable
- Shut down the Mac.
- Plug in the MagSafe or USB-C power adapter to a power source and to your Mac.
- Using the built-in keyboard, press Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the keyboard, then press the power button at the same time.
- Release all keys, then press the power button again to turn on your Mac
Not sure what among the NVRAM information stored in the MacBook would affect
the issue yours has; you could read & perhaps reset it - info here: NVRAM or PRAM
