Q: My trackpad is acting extremely weirdly ... any suggestions?

Hello,

Yesterday morning my mouse pointer starting moving randomly around the screen - to the point I could not use my Mac Book Pro 10.11.6, after a very small amount (geinuely very small) of juice was spilt on it. It jumped around and stuttered. I cleaned my trackpad, shutdown, and it started working perfectly again. Problem solved.

Then, after an hour. It started jumping again out of no where. I cleaned it, shutdown. And again, it started working perfectly again.

Then, It happened again. I realise the problem may actually be software as it is capable of working, but seems to stop working and start again every hour, or when I sleep and un sleep the laptop.

I start up in Safe mode - problem persisted. Probably isn't software then?

I reset my RAM (alt + cmd + p + r on startup). And yes, finally things started working for a while once again.

Then, It happened again. Pointer jumping everywhere.

I then decide to go all in, and back up my files, wipe my computer (Disk Utility) and reinstall latest OS (EI Captain).

Back to factory settings. I really thought it had worked this time. As, for 8 hours, it did.

I wake up today. And Im back to square one. Working then not, working then not.

Getting a new track pad is depressing and costly consisting my one CAN work just fine. I find this behaviour so odd, specifically the fact it hasn't just completely stopped working, but does on and off. When it does work (which is currently is) it works PERFECTLY.

Anyway, any suggestions before I get a replacement? This is my last attempt in saving it.

Huge thanks.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)
