Q: Keychain issues (passwords, time capsule)

Hello,

 

I have major keychain issues on new MacBook 12" with El Capitan.

 

First, Time Capsule backup stopped working, then after changing my wifi password I cannot change the password stored in keychain with no permission message.

 

When entering in restore mode following command:

chflags norestricted /V*/*/L*/Keyc*/*

 

I got in return that Keyc doesn't exist.

 

Also same problem is being mirror on my iPhone device. Whenever I enter the new correct wifi password, it forgets it because it obviously pulls old one from keychain. Or however it works?

 

Any ideas?

    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. 

     

    Based on your post, I see that you are having an issue with your Time Capsule backup working, and Keychain and not being able to change the password stored for Wi-Fi. I know how important it is to make sure that your information is backed up and Keychain stores your passwords across all devices. I have a few things that I would like you to try.

     

    First, use If you can‘t back up or restore your Mac using Time Machine, specifically, this section:

     

    Check your AirPort device

    1. If you're using an AirPort Time Capsule or AirPort Base Station, check to make sure its firmware is up to date by using AirPort Utility.
    2. Restart your Time Capsule or AirPort Base Station and see if the issue still happens. To restart your device, simply unplug it from AC power for five seconds, then plug it back in.

     

    Next, use Get help using iCloud Keychain, specifically, this section:

     

    If you can't sync iCloud Keychain with other devices

    Make sure that your device is on a Wi-Fi or cellular network. If the connection appears strong, try these steps:

    1. Turn off iCloud Keychain on all devices.
    2. Turn on iCloud Keychain on the device that has the most up-to-date keychain items.
    3. Turn on iCloud Keychain on your other devices. They will be updated with your new iCloud Keychain.
