MacBook m3 or m5

I recently visited the Apple Store with the intention of purchasing a 12" MacBook m5 model. The sales rep suggested the m3 model instead which I purchased.

Is there really a noticeable difference between the two?

Is there any difference between the capability between the m3 and m5 other than speed to perform a task?

I will not be using photoshop or doing spreadsheet type of work, and do not need the extra disk space.

The cost difference was not a issue and I am within the time frame to exchange it for the m5
