Q: Buzzing sound from 2010 27" iMac

Been getting a buzzing sound, gets louder when brightness is increased. Have seen lots of posts about this since 2008, but never a solution. Is there any solution yet? Is it the power supply? Is it the graphics card?

Mac Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5), 32GB Ram

Shut down the computer immediately and take it to an Apple Authorized Service Provider immediately to be professionally diagnosed. In most cases online forums cannot determine what hardware issues are at fault. The computer needs to be seen and tested by someone that has the proper diagnostic tools.

Have done that, they can not hear it in Apple Store, they tested it and said nothing was wrong with it.

You took it to an actual Apple Store? If so, take it back or find another AASP to take it to.

Wow, well take it back or find another AASP. I am a little surprised an Apple Store would try to service it due to it's age. You may wan to reference Vintage and obsolete products - Apple Support.

They said that, but they ran a "test" on it (I know a few Apple workers there). When doing a Google search for this issue there are so many posts going back to 2008 to current. So it must be something Apple should be aware of. Plus, mine being out of warranty, if it is just a power supply or graphics card I can just replace it myself for a minimal cost. Just posting this question to see if anyone else found a solution.

Buy a USB DAC; I have this Foster because I Foster amp and speales but there are many makes to choose from, just don't buy one at $10.00 something over $80.00 is more like it.

Connect the DAC to the Mac with USB then connect the DAC to a set of powered speakers or headphones.

When you get this shorted out or you can do this now. Look for a Mac repair close to you. Check them out and see if you want to do business with them. More than likely they will be cheaper that an Apple store for repairs.

I found a place that's five minutes from where I live. A month ago my power supply die and I dropped the Mac off to them to be fixed. When I got back home I got a call wail walking through the front door, "Your repair is done and you can pick it up." The price was $89 and I had my Mac within an hour later after dropping it off.

I few months back I wanted to upgrade the SSD from 256 GB to a 1 TB SSD and at the same time max out the ram from 16 to 32 GB. Labor was cheap and the only waiting time was for the parts to come in... I had it back in 3 days.

Apple from I know won't work on a Mac if you have opened it up and messed with it. If the Mac been around cigarette smoke they won't work on it. They are very picky on what they work on...
