Can I get a refund on an unnecessary charger?

My iPhone 5c recently stopped charging and would not work no matter what I tried. I've had this problem before which was resolved by cleaning out the charger port.

I therefore tried this this time but it didn't solve the problem. I bought a new charger from the Apple website but the phone has now been fixed and can now charge again with the old charger. Is it possible to get a refund on the new charger considering it wasn't a necessary purchase?

Hi

Apple offers a 14 day Standard Return Policy in the US. Follow the instructions here under "How to Return An Item":

http://www.apple.com/shop/help/returns_refund

If your purchase date falls outside of that policy, you will need to ask Apple whether a return might still be possible (this is a user-based community - you are not talking to Apple here).

(Return policies may vary in other countries).

In order to obtain a refund, you would have to return to the product you purchased, otherwise it would be akin to Apple simply giving you a free charger. If you purchased the product within the 14 day return period, simply return to the store where you purchased the charger, with your receipt and the original packaging for a full refund.
