Burn Error

I'm on a mid 2010 - 13" MacBook Pro

User uploaded file

I've been getting a burn error message: The disc can’t be burned because an unexpected error occurred (error code 0x8002006E).

It will burn maybe 3 DVDs (data, backing up digital movies) then give me the error. If I wait a few hours, or days, it will burn a few more. It may well be time to replace it but I'm hoping there's a fix. If not, any suggestions on replacements?

TIA

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

are there any blemishes on the media? if so use a disk without smears or fingerprints

failing that try another brand of DVD supported by the 2010 Mac Book Pro

  • Maximum write: 8x DVD-R, DVD+R; 4x DVD-R DL (double layer), DVD+R DL (double layer), DVD-RW, DVD+RW; 24x CD-R; 10x CD-RW
  • Maximum read: 8x DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-ROM; 6x DVD-ROM (double layer DVD-9), DVD-R DL (double layer), DVD+R DL (double layer), DVD-RW, DVD+RW; 24x CD

if it's continual there could be a problem with the burner
