Q: iPad lock out. Wrong Password

I am trying to unlock my aunt's iPad. Her son gave it to her as a gift with his password. He can't remember the login or password now. We are stuck and I have tried to reset the iPad. Now it will not let me set it up as a new iPad. What are my options?

He has no idea what the password is nor the access to that email. Can I still use that method?

Only Apple will be able to help. He can try contacting them here and see if they can reset his password.
Contact Apple for help with Apple ID account security - Apple Support

If it is convenient and he still has the receipt, he can take the device and proof of purchase to an Apple Store and get help there. He should make an appointment first.
