Q: Updated to OS 10.11.6.  Now getting message "The application App Store can't be opened" "The application Notes can't be opened".  Likewise for Calendar, Mail, and others.  What's up?  Need a fix.

Hah!

Had issue after upgrading to OS 10.11.6... Numerous apps would not open; "cannot open Notes application".

Tracked it to McAfee Internet Security setting. Turning off Application Protection allowed Apple software to open. After switching it back on, applications still open normally.  Thanks gang!

As a suggestion, I would UNINSTALL the McAfee software at once. The stuff is not necessary and causes problems on many systems.
