IPhone 6s Issues

I have a new IPhone 6s, I have two ongoing issues. First sometimes when I turn the phone sideways to type a landscape text message the phone will not let me type anything in the message box until I turn it upright. Secondly, when I turn the phone sideways to type in a landscape text message the screen will go black, and then open up as a voice text message. And once again will not change until I turn it upright. I have restarted, rebooted, and reloaded; any other suggestions?

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding you've been experiencing issues with messages in landscape mode on your iPhone 6s. I know it's important to be able to use messages upright and in landscape mode. I am happy to get this resolved with you.
You've done a great job so far! At this point it's important to resolve any software issues that could cause this to occur. To do this you'll need to back up and restore through iTunes on a Mac or PC. The steps in the link below will assist with backing up and restoring:
Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings
If the issue persists after restoring and restoring your backup, then the content could be an issue with content. In this case you'll need to erase all content and set up as new. Use the link below for assistance:
