why wont my iphone 6 connect to itunes

I don't think this has anything to do with my computer. I need to update my iPhone to iOS 9.3.3. but it won't update on it's own and it won't connect to iTunes on my computer either. My phone says I have 0 bytes of storage left which is impossible because I deleted more than half the apps I had to get more storage. I went from 1.9 MB of pictures to 900MB. As I was deleting pictures and apps my amount of storage was going down and now says I have used all my storage but it doesn't make since. I'm not sure what to do from here.

Seems like two separate issues here. Hard to follow.

If iTunes doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod - Apple Support

Try a Forced Restart. Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15 seconds until the Apple logo appears. You will not lose anything.

If a forced restart does not help try a System Restore. First backup your device using iTunes. Also import your photos to your computer and copy all important data if possible. Try restoring from backup first and testing it. If it does not help, you may have to restore as New and reconfigure from scratch as the backup could be corrupted. For this reason it is important to have your photos and data saved separately from the backup. Here are the steps for a Restore:

Sorry, what I meant was to do a system restore and then test your phone afterwards to see if it now works properly.

To do a system restore you would have to follow the steps in the article I am linking below. If you are not too comfortable with technology it might be best to have an Apple Store do it. Take a look at the article and decide if it is for you or not.

Try the steps here. This other article has helped many. Even though your PC sees it, the same drivers affect iTunes as well. The other option is to uninstall and reinstall iTunes, the last resort. Good luck.
