Q: Need a SIM card for iPhone 4s

Somewhere along the line I long my iPod. My daughter had a couple of old iPhones and gave me a 4s. I reset & cleared it and when trying to reactivate it it says I need a SIM card. I am only going to use this as a repository for my iTunes and not activate it to a carrier. Anyway this can be done or am I kinda out of luck?

Sorry, but the phone can't be activated again without a valid SIM card. If it still is locked to that carrier, the SIM has to be from that provider as well. In any other case, a supported SIM card will help to activate it again.

You do not necessarily need a cellular contract to activate your iPhone, but you do need a SIM card.

Try asking your daughter for an old SIM card that is no longer in use. Activating a phone does not need cellular connection but it does need a SIM card.

Thanks, she doesn't have a card of that size. Gonna check my grandson. If not his phone gonna go to the AT&T store and beg them to either lend me one for 5 minutes of buy one.

Thanks again. I used my grandson's Sim card and everything worked fine.
