Time Machine software backs up all user accounts; saves changes

and is helpful in restoring the computer OS X. Also suggested you

make and use additional backups to external drives independent

of the Time Machine files. Also it helps to consider learning how to

make full bootable system clones as a third measure as these can

be helpful to restore. A clone on suitable drive could be used to start

the computer if the main hard drive should fail.

In connection with OS X Recovery, one can restore a computer.

With clones and Time Machine, you could do it all offline. There

are a few well known clone utilities, from their maker sites; such

as SuperDuper (shirtpocket software) & CarbonCopyCloner from

Bombich Software; & OS X 'Disk Utility' can make 'disk images'.

The Apple 'Time Capsule' (wi-fi base with backup storage) does a

fair trick with Time Machine software that is part of the Mac OS X.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
