Apple ID recovery taking 6 weeks

My husband cannot post here because he stupidly lost his ID password, he has an iPhone, iMac, and iPad and is constantly bombarded with popups asking for apple id, icloud password etc etc ... a total pain. Having entered into 'password recovery' (which is publicised as taking a few days) when it didn't happen he telephoned support and they said because of problems with 2 part authentication the 3 or 4 days is now taking up to 6 WEEKS. searching on-line he can find no more information about this ... he cannot get onto this site, cannot make itunes purchases, icloud doesn't sync ... a nightmare !

Why do they say days when I've been waiting almost a month?! And btw it's NOT "fully automated" it's automated up to the point where anything actually happens and then it goes to the what was referred to as the Apple ID Recovery Team. But unless this is a team of autonomous robots pre-programmed with only one function I don't get why its taking so long. My account was hacked and I really wish more effort was put into finding out who did this and how this happened. Very strange stuff going on lately.

I had this problem and got it resolved today - finally. It took 6 months and hours and hours of talking and waiting over the phone with apple representatives and even senior managers (after hours of waiting and talking with the senior manager who claimed could help me recover the Apple ID decided that she was not capable of resolving the issue.) Waited almost six months and the Apple ID Recovery text prompted me to change my password. Changed it and turned off the two factor authentication feature. 6 months...

Yes thank you Brian, of course he's gone through the regular procedure, entered the passcode sent to his "trusted" device etc but he got "stuck" when (as part of the process) he was asked for c/card details ... he entered these correctly but the response was "You have entered incorrect information" - he double checked and checked again and kept getting the same response so he reluctantly entered into the 3 or 4 day "password recovery" process ... after 5 days with no contact he telephoned apple support and was told the process was taking 6 WEEKS ... he cannot sync calendars, cannot buy from the store dozens of popups per hour etc etc
