Q: FaceTime settings

hi, i got a question, can I use FaceTime just with my email address since I can't find a way to erase my mobile number out of the FaceTime settings. I already tried logging out of accounts and restarting it, didn't help. Can anyone help me?

Yes you can use the email address. Settings>Facetime>You can be reached at>Your email address.

Use FaceTime with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

You can uncheck the phone number if you don't want to be contacted that way.

    A) thank you for your reply

    B) maybe I formed my question the false, I know that I can use my email address. That's exactly what I want, I just can't uncheck my phone number at "you can be reached at" because it's grey highlighted. It was my question how i can enable this. Sorry if you misunderstood me.

You said that you logged out of accounts. Does that mean that you turned FaceTime off and then on again? Try that if you didn't.

Take a look at this response from one of the Apple Community Specialists.

I Am so sorry about this and now I feel rather foolish. This is on your iPhone and you can not remove the number from FaceTime on the phone. It is always grayed out. I jump back and forth from the iPad to the iPhone forums and I missed that this was an iPhone.

WHy do want to remove the number?

it's ok demo, your were the only one helping me and i am very thankful. i want to remove it bc my phone cant decide what its doing and is using my email (totally cool) one time to use facetime, the other time its using my phone number (absolutely not cool) which causes costs which are extraordinarly not cool. i thought maybe there is a way to enable that. but now i know there isnt. again, thank you for your help!

Have you tried Settings>Facetime>Caller ID>Your email address. That unchecks the phone number as your caller ID. You could also try Settings>Cellular>Use cellular data for>FaceTime>Off. I don't know if that would make a difference, but you would only be able to FaceTime over WiFi.
