Q: Auto backups? Not that I can find

FCPX just crashed. Happens.Don't know why. Sent the report to Apple. Restarted the Mac. Opened FCPX. None of the work I had performed over the last full day, 24 hours, is visible. It's gone. New projects are gone. New events are gone. I imported about 200 gigs of material into ten new events. They're not there. The last auto backup for this library was last Thursday. Yet I was working on it all day Friday and again all day yesterday, Monday.

When I open the Library, I can see all of the events and all of the original media I imported. Yet they do not appear in the browser.

Two questions:

1. How do I increase the frequency with which FCPX performs its auto backups? FCPX Help just says it happens by magic.

2. How do I import items that are in the Library bundle? They are not visible from the Import dialog box.

That's weird. Have you done a Finder search on dot fcpbundle to see whether per chance the backup libraries were stored elsewhere?

If what you see inside the library looks normal, I'd guess that the database file, flexolibrary is corrupted. You could drag that to the Trash (without emptying). Try opening the library, at which point the database will be rebuilt. If it still doesn't work you can replace the new flexo file with the one in the Trash.

edit: Pretty sure there's no way to change the library backup frequency. If you needed to get to the media to import, you would move the Original Media folder outside the bundle.

Trash ye olde flexolibrary, hmm? I'll try that.

Looking back at past backups, seems the backup frequency is anywhere between 15 mins and 2 hours. Wonder what triggers the backups.

    Thanks, Russ.

I don't use this app (Backups for final Cut Pro), but perhaps someone who does can comment on it or an alternative product.
