    Hi there Thibdg,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like your iPhone 5 is turning off on its own. I'm glad to hear that you have a recent backup of your device available. I definitely understand how important it is to be able to rely on your phone each day. I'll be more than happy to help!

To get started, let's have you force quit the open applications on your iPhone and then restart the device. The following articles will walk you through this process:

Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the issue still persists, we'll next want to have you reset the settings on your iPhone. You will not lose any of your pictures, contacts, etc. There will be some user-specific settings (i.e. Wallpaper, ringtones, etc) that you'll need to adjust afterwards. Once your device restarts, check to see if it is still switching off randomly. To complete the reset, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.

In the event that resetting via Settings does not resolve this, we'll have you try restoring the device to factory settings and testing it out. This helps us isolate whether there is an issue with the software by installing a fresh copy of iOS to the phone. Once the device is back up and running, check to see if it turns off on its own. If the issue is resolved, you can then restore from the backup that you have already created. The following support articles provide information on how to restore to factory defaults and from a backup:

Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

    All the best!
