Q: Wireless device connection loss.

my device: iMac 21"

year purchased: late 2011

model#: A1311

After 2 iOS updates ago my Wifi stopped working! Only found out cause I heard it happened to lots of people, but I always connect with Ethernet anyways so no big deal for me.

However I just did the newest iOS update couple days ago, and now my Mac won't recognize/connect with both wireless keyboard & Magic Mouse!?... This is kind of a problem cause I do not have any 'wired' replacements to try......

does my only hope involve purchasing another keyboard & mouse so I can fix the issue with the originals that came with the computer?!...... I sure hope not? as this would be an expensive purchase just to change or reset some setting on the computer...

all my computer devices are apple products and I have to say Im starting to loose faith in the company...... Cell phone contract is up and I'm liking the feedback I get from new 'Samsung' owners......

    JayDoh76,

IOS only runs on iPads, iPods and iPhones. Are you referring to OS X which is the operating system for Mac's? If so, please let us know the version of OS X installed on your Mac. If you don't know, click the Apple symbol in the upper left of the display and select About this Mac.

My bad! Not "iOS" I stand corrected by rkaufmann87. It is OS X, but asking me to do or go anywhere to check something is not helpful..... I can't get past the user log-on page without a mouse or keyboard...... Tryed calling apple, the lady I spoke to was trying so hard to help, but in the end sugested I borrow a wired mouse from a friend or relative before anything else to at least get into the blue-tooth settings....

    JayDoh76,

Your mouse and keyboard connects via bluetooth. Go to settings>bluetooth.... on the left, highlight bluetooth connection and delete by clicking the -(minus). Restart and go back to the bluetooth setting and on the right manual pair keyboard and mouse. Hope this helps and did for me.

We really need the version of OS X that is installed on your computer. Without that basic information we are left guessing. Remember we cannot look over your shoulder to see what the issue is. We rely on you to paint an accurate picture.

Sorry, I didn't read carefully, your mouse and keyboard won't connect upon startup.

If you have not been referred to this document already, please read If your Apple wireless mouse, keyboard, or trackpad aren't working as expected - Apple Support.

It is always wise to have a USB keyboard and mouse on hand just in case you have difficulty. In most cases, the resolution is easy however if you don't have access to a keyboard and mouse doing the troubleshooting steps can be challenging. You can borrow a set or if you use ANY inexpensive keyboard and mouse, they will work.

Sorry for not giving all needed info. Thank you for the help and response. I was hoping for a fix without having to purchase a another device?
