This is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update so it should overwrite any system files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before. It should not touch any inside your Home folder. If you can start in Safe Mode download and install that way.

- If you do not have a backup use disk utility to restore the internal disk to an external disk so you can try to recover data.
Then format the startup disk and do a fresh install of OSX

Aug 2, 2016 3:34 PMby porsche1971,I have done this, all of it, no luck. Right now, I am still on safe mode. this is only way I can function for now.
I have also reinstalled OS X, still same result. IF i am not on safe mode, it will work but if i open Safari, then it will act funny. Lines appear, the screen will split, the apple will pop up in the right side of screen, only way for me to get to it, is to move the mouse all the way to left, then it will pop up in right side of screen.
I know, very strange.

If a fresh install and still having problems that suggests a hardware problem.
In Safe mode not all drivers are loaded.
Try running Apple Hardware Test
Using Apple Hardware Test - Apple Support
Just note that if it does not find problem that does not mean there are not any problems. This especially applies to graphics problems

Do you have good backup?
If not you may be able to copy data from the startup disk to an external disk by booting to Recovery and using Terminal.
Copying Files to External Hard Drive via Terminal?
If not you can try via booting to Recovery, installing OSX on and external disk and booting from that disk and see if you can copy data from the internal disk
