Q: iMac disconnects from wifi frequently
My mid 2011 iMac keeps disconnecting from my wifi frequently, sometimes up to every 5 minutes. My web pages will stop loading, yet the wifi symbol in the top right still says I am connected (when running diagnostic monitoring software, no fault is detected). If I turn the wifi off and on again the internet will reconnect and works fine for a short while.
My mac is up to date with software updates, and operating on OS X El Capitan 10.11.6.
The issue is not due to my router signal as other devices such as MacBooks work fine, and in the same area.
I have tried deleting past wifi connections, and reinstalling the current one.
Any help would be appreciated.
iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Normally at that is needed is a reset or your modem and router, yes even if other devices work okay. Once you have reset both, then restart the iMac in Safe Mode (hold down Shift key on startup) and then restart normally. The Safe Mode restart will clear some caches.
After re-starting normally please test and see if the problem is resolved.
If not then please look over the steps in Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points - Apple Support
