Q: how do I update safari?

my bank is telling me to update safari - II've updated all recent versions and have :no updates" - but still can't' log in.

Probably your bank's website fails to detect your Safari version correctly.

Try switching your browser's user agent to, say, Chrome. To do this, first enable Develop menu (Safari → Preferences → Advanced), and then in the appeared menu select some other user agent.
