Q: iPod Touch 6: Playing Song n of x?

I recently upgraded from a third generation iPod Touch to a sixth, and one of the features I'm missing is the "Song n of x" message I used to get when I would shuffle all of my songs. I've noodled around with the different features of the new interface, but I haven't been able to find that. When I have the iPod hooked up to my car stereo, the stereo will display the number of the song that's currently playing, so I know that data has to be somewhere. Does anyone know where I can find that detail?

iPod touch, iOS 9.3.3

As far as I can tell, iTunes hasn't lost any salient features, so it's a matter of finding out how it works now. I'm not even sure if I'm understanding what you're talking about. For example, my current iPod Touch playlist screen looks like this:

As you can see from this screenshot, it lists tracks 1, 2, 3...etc., as you'd expect. You get a different view if you tap on the area corresponding to the "This Sceptered Isle" image shown here. The numbered playlist turns into a single song list.

Here is the manual. Some features of earlier iOS versions have been dropped

poikkeus1, that's not quite what I mean, but maybe some screenshots will help.

On my third generation Touch, I could shuffle all my songs, and the display would show how many songs there were, and which song in that number I was listening to:

I can see that I have 9081 songs, and that I'm on song 9081.

On the sixth generation Touch, this is what I see:

Now, I don't see either the total number of songs or which song in that list I'm currently listening to. I know it's in there somewhere -- when I listened to it in my car, this same song came up as song 429 -- and wondered if there were a way to display that information. If not, I can live with it, but if there's a way to pull it up, I'd like to do that.

If not specified in the manual I would not know how to do that
