Why won't my iphone charger work in my laptop?

Hi,

So I have an iPhone 6 and I have an acer laptop. Usually, my iphone charger works whenever I plug it into my laptop but recently it has stopped working. The charger is fine as I can charge it using a plug in a normal socket but I tried plugging my iPad charger into the laptop which was connected to my iPad and that seemed to work. So I'm not sure what the problem is as my laptop accepts other chargers like my iPad charger but not my iPhone one which works without a laptop? My iPhone charger has worked in my laptop multiple times but now it isn't. Any idea on how I can resolve this? Any help is appreciated, thanks 🙂

Hi

Follow the steps in the support article linked below, including:

  • Checking the charging port for any debris.
  • When charging via the laptop, check that you are plugging into a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port when the computer is turned on and not in sleep mode.
  • Checking that you are using either a genuine Apple cable or an Apple-certified / MFi cable.

If you are already doing so, try instead using another cable of the same type (ie only genuine or certified).
