Reset MacBookPro

Question

I am attempting to restart my mac and when I start while holding down the option key, I only get the HD icon. What should I do?

If you're trying to install an OS from a disk, insert or connect it.

If you're trying to access the recovery partition, restart with the Command and R keys held down.

If you're trying to access the Internet Recovery system, restart with the Option, Command, and R keys held down.

that's not a reset, thats the option to choose a boot drive

are you looking to reset the PRAM?

if so the necessity for this has changed over the years so you can explain why you are trying to reset and why.
