Can Chargers Go Bad?

I've been having problems with my mini's battery - no full charge, drains and then suddenly revives, takes more than a day for a full charge, etc. Then this morning, it wouldn't charge from the wall charger. Thought the battery was finally dead but tried the usb cable - it immediately began charging. But it still won't recognize the wall charger.

Is it time to ditch the charger or should I swap out the battery AND the charger?

Thanks!

Chargers go bad just like anything else, but I have to say that during my time here I've rarely heard of it.

Much more likely to be the battery in my opinion.

How old is the iPod, and has the battery been through a lot of charge cycles?

Once a battery starts losing it's ability to charge or hold a charge, it's irreversible.

There are a lot of 3rd party battery options cheaper than Apple if you Google 'iPod mini batteries'.
