Q: podcast Playback

Since an iTunes upgrade awhile back my podcasts are not playing oldest to newest.  They are playing newest to oldest.  Before the upgrade I had it set up to play the oldest to newest and it worked fine. Now no matter what I do or setting I put it always plays newest to oldest, backwards. So If I have a podcast hours 1st,2nd,and 3rd. It will play hours 3,2,then 1.  How can I fix this so that it will in order 1,2,3?

    Hello Cmeyers72,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand from your post that your podcasts are not playing in the order you would like them to. I like to listen to my podcasts in the order of my choosing as well. Within iTunes there is a feature called Stations. You can set up a Station and change the settings so that it plays the Podcasts in the order you would like.

    1. With iTunes open choose Podcasts from the drop-down list on the upper left side of the screen. If you do not have the sidebar showing, click View at the top of your Mac screen and select Show Sidebar.

    2. Make sure you have My Podcasts selected at the top center of iTunes.

    3. At the top of the sidebar, you should see a heading called Library. Under the Library heading, you should see 2 sub-headings, Podcasts and Stations.

    4. Click Stations. The right side of the screen should show you a list of podcasts and the title should say Most Recent. (If you click the words Most Recent, you can edit the name to what you like.)

    5. On the far side of the screen, you should see a gray box that says Settings. Click Settings.

    6. Station Settings will appear on the right side of the screen. You can then change the Play Order to Oldest to Newest. Include to All and Media Type to All. You can also select Unplayed only and/or Group by Podcast.

    7. In the bottom section, you can slide the switch for Include all podcasts to off and then fill in the circle on the right next to the podcast you want to listen to.

    8. Then select Done.

Thank you for this information.  It is helpful in that now  I play my podcasts in the correct order on my computer through iTunes.  My problem really now lies in that I still can not play the correct order on my iPhone podcast app.  I don't know how to change that.  I have under my iPhone in iTunes asked it and set it to play oldest to newest but it still no matter what plays newest to oldest.  Any ideas on how to correct this on the iPhone podcast app?
