Q: How to transfer 2 iPhoto libraries (one on a macbook pro and one on an old external hard drive) onto 1 new iMac?
I have a brand new iMac and I need to transfer two different iPhoto libraries onto it. One iPhoto library is on my macbook and is the latest version so I know I can do that with migration assistant (the macbook is backed up onto a Time Machine). The other iPhoto library is on an old external hard drive (I'm talking 7 years old), is probably a very old version of iPhoto, will need updating and is not backed up onto the Time machine. I would like to merge them so that they are both on the same iPhoto library on the new iMac.
Causing more difficulties is that I don't know what kind of cable I would need to use to connect the external hard drive to the new iMac - I've attached a photo of the back of the external hard drive.
So should I finish up with the migration assistant and just get everything off the macbook first and then try to transfer the library off the external hard drive using a cable? and will that work if its an old version of iPhoto? Will trying to merge them (can I even do that?) mess everything up?
